Can you imagine this? (No wait, don’t.) Saul was alone, exposed, vulnerable—and David’s men saw this as their golden opportunity. They whispered to David, “This is it! This is the moment the Lord promised you! Take him out!” Oh, man! How tempting it must have been for David to end it right then and there. After all, Saul had been chasing him like a madman, throwing spears at him, plotting his death, and now Saul was right there—a sitting target. But let me tell you something: just because we have an opportunity for retribution doesn’t mean it’s God’s will for us to take it.
